Brixton Bid

Strudel Proposal

Brixton BID Website design and build

Strudel will create a functional and easy to navigate website that attracts businesses and local residence alike. The site’s visual language will utilise and build upon your existing brand and will communicate the vibrant, diverse and unique character of one of London’s most cherished neighbourhoods.

The Place

Ask any Londoner, or London resident worth their salt what London neighbourhood best sums up community and diversity and if their answer isn’t Brixton, it’s very clear that they have never experienced one of London’s most famous districts.

Brixton’s rich history of roots and rebellion not only tells the story of the capital but of the changing shape of the British landscape. An area always championing inclusivity and diversity, Brixton has stood strong as a beacon of community and togetherness, a place that sets the benchmark for other communities to aspire to.

Even now with the face of Brixton changing rapidly, existing residents and new, more affluent neighbours have discovered a way to co-exist in harmony, balancing the area’s Caribbean roots with a new lifestyle that has integrated and enhanced an already bustling and vibrant neighbourhood. This welcoming, diverse and inclusive message speaks to the heart of a strong community with so much more to offer.

Strudel will harness Brixton’s living culture, finding inspiration in its people, place and surroundings. Feeding off Brixton’s vibrant neighbourhood and lifestyle to translate this energy onto the BID’s digital platform.

The People

The people make the place. They create the environment, fuel change, build the businesses and create community. The BID website needs to be inclusive and accessible to all. Local businesses and the BID itself has a vital role to play in shaping the community. The website will be many people’s first port of call to engage and learn about Brixton. The area is full of a vast variety of audience types with varying income levels. It is imperative that our site speaks, and is relevant to, all these different demographics. Below are some of the core aspects the site must include in order to speak clearly to its audience.

Represent Business

The Brixton BID website will represent the vibrant business community that exists today. As well as being a virtual shop front, it will also engage businesses on a formal level and provide essential information about what the BID is doing to serve them. The website will feature the services available and highlight relevant networking events taking place in the BID area. It will promote Brixton as a great place to do business and continue to bring the community together for the benefit of everyone, ensuring it is a place that businesses can thrive.

Strudel will create a website that is accessible and inclusive to all, attracting every type of local business and consumer. From the creative studio to the hairdresser, from the families to couples, from nights out at the Electric to days visiting the Village. Everyone is welcome and none will be forgotten.

The Process

Strudel have been creating brands and online products for 18 years and have created websites for a variety of different businesses and sectors. We work closely and collaboratively with all our clients, working step by step together, to reach the perfect outcome that balances form and function. Our process is outlined below and demonstrates the actions and steps we will take to complete the BID website.

The Process pt2.

The site will be designed using current and accessible HTML 5 framework with a WordPress CMS. The site will be fully mobile responsive and users will enjoy the same experience whether accessing the site via a desktop, small screen device, Apple or Microsoft, Safari or Chrome based browsers. A functional specification will document all the requirements of the site and define the right course of action for our outcome. The site will also be built with organic Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) in mind. This will allow you to create content that will be optimised for google and allow you to be easily found by your audience.

The Portfolio

With 18 years’ experience we are bound to have a portfolio full of excellent relevant work that relates to your project. Well, guess what, you’re not wrong :) Below are 3 projects we think make us the ideal studio to take on the new Brixton BID website.
• We designed and built the website for another BID, Stratford Original in East London
• We re-branded, designed and built the ‘in progress’ website for the High Trees community development trust in Tulse Hill.
• And finally The Depot is a sales brand we created for a Shared Ownership housing development in Brixton.
