Following the success of the Voice website, we were commissioned to develop a clear, engaging information pack for young people.
Task: to ensure that children in Young Offender Institutions (YOIs), Secure Training Centres (STCs) and secure children’s homes know what their rights are when they’re locked up by creating a ‘Locked Up, Looked After’ pack. The pack had to present a dense body of information in a clear and digestible format whilst making it clear that Voice are an independent support service whose role is to get the young person’s point of view across.
Solution: we created a folder with 17 inserts of varying length in order for the young person to find the information that was relevant to their situation easily. To ensure that the design would be effective with the target audience, the design concepts were taken to a YOI for feedback and consequently developed with the comments from that session in mind.
The style of the pack is consistent with the design of the website, which was developed in partnership with young people and children in care.
